Awarapan is another one of Vishesh Films productions.
Mohit Suri , who has made a special place in Bollywood as a director with films like Zeher , Kalyug and Woh Lamhe has now come up with “Awarapan”.
Awarapan is a story of Shivam ( Emraan Hashmi ), the henchman of Mallik ( Ashutosh Rana )who is a gangster based out of Hong Kong. Mallik assigns Shivam a job of keeping an eye on his mistress Reema ( Mrinalini Sharma ), a Pakistani girl who was trafficked and sold to Mallik in the flesh trade. Reema’s only dream is to get out of this life.
The job of keeping an eye on Reema brings back memories of Shivam’s past.
The film now goes into flashback where Shivam, a criminal, meets Aaliya ( Shreya Saran ) and falls in love with her beauty and simplicity. But Aaliya’s father doesn’t agree to their relationship and what follows devastates the life of Shivam.
Back to the present, our hero Shivam lives an aimless life, simply following and carrying out the orders of his master Mallik, at the same time haunted by his past memories.
While keeping an eye on Reema he discovers that she has a lover. With Reema’s secret revealed, Mallik orders shivam to kill Reema. That’s where the twist comes in …. And a loyal employee turns in to a rebel to save Reema.
There is nothing new about the storyline of the movie but what is commendable is the performance delivered by Emraan Haashmi.Awarapan is a serious effort by this actor to come out of his chocolate boy and serial kisser image. Shyera Saran has also done justice to her short role in the movie. But Mrinalini Sharma has overacted in few scenes.
All in all , a worth watching movie!!
