How Do I Appraise My Boss ?

At OfficeGupshup.com (OGS), we provide you a platform to rattle the world of all your evil bosses. At the same time, we encourage you to ensure that credit for the good work done is passed on to the deserving bosses. So, please also share with us stories about good bosses whom you have worked with and who serve as role models for their teams and subordinates.

To give you a quick background, every boss at OfficeGupshup.com (OGS) has an associated scorecard. So, the worse the deeds of a boss, worse is his appraisal, worse are his ratings, worse are the verdicts passed on this boss by the users and hence worse is his score. This boss thus stands a strong chance of entering the league of the "Most Hated Bosses" at OfficeGupshup.com (OGS).

Similarly, a good boss gets a good appraisal, good ratings and verdicts by other website users and thus better is his scorecard. This boss thus stands a strong chance of entering the league of the "Most Loved Bosses" at OfficeGupshup.com (OGS).

OfficeGupshup.com makes the whole appraisal process very simple and intuitive for its registered users. In fact, there are just five steps to it.

  1. Register Your Boss

  2. Select the Boss

  3. Appraise Your Boss

  4. Invite your colleagues

  5. Pass Verdicts

 Register Your Boss

It is mandatory to register your boss before you can appraise him/her. When you register your boss, OGS picks up this information and adds it your boss's scorecard, so that you and your colleagues can uniquely identify your boss to the whole OGS community while keeping your identity anonymous.

There are primarily two important things in the boss registration process:
  1. Boss's Nick Name - Choose an appropriate nick name for your boss. This name would be visible to the public and would help you and your colleagues (that you invite) to recognise your boss amongst yourself.

  2. Company Name - Choose your boss's company name if it is available in the "Company" drop down. If company is not listed in the dropdown, then select the "Other" option and proceed as follows:
    • Enter your company's complete name - The complete name of the company would not be visible to the public.
    • Enter a suitable nick name for your company - This name would be visible to the outside world, so try and make it as relevant as possible without revealing the actual company name.

For example, if you work for a company called "AbraKaDabra", then provide the full name of the company as "AbraKaDabra Technologies Private Limited". This will help the future users in selecting the company directly from the drop down. Also, make sure that you provide a relevant company nick name. For instance, a suitable company nick name for the above company could be "Abra", so that the company nick name is relevant and at the same time does not reveal your company's actual identity either.

Click Here to register your boss.

    Points to Note:

    1. The company nick name should not be the same as the actual name of the company.

    2. Do not register the same company again if it is already available in the "Company" drop down. If we find such an occurrence, we retain the right to delete the new company name as well as the corresponding stories entered by the author. If the same instance is repeated, we retain the right to ban the user from accessing the site.

    3. Once a boss is registered successfully, you cannot change any information about him. So, if you really hate/love your boss, try your best to provide accurate details such as your boss's "First Name", "Last Name", "Company Name" etc.

     Select the Boss

Once you have successfully registered your boss, the system generates a distinct name for your boss and your registered boss would be visible under the "Appraise Existing Bosses" heading.

Any boss needs to be registered only once. Next time onwards, you can just select any of your registered bosses and post a new story about that boss. Click here to see a list of your registered bosses.

     Appraise Your Boss

Once you select a boss, you would be taken to the appraisal page. You can enter the appraisal story title, choose an appropriate boss classification, the best suited job for your boss, self-rate the boss and post the story.

     Invite a Colleague

At OfficeGupshup.com, we enable you to form your own office community. So, in case you know of a colleague who has also worked for the same boss, and who is equally frustrated/in love with your boss, go ahead and invite your colleague.

You can invite your ex-colleagues or present colleagues. You can also invite people who did not work for this boss but equally hated/loved him being in the same company.

Once you invite a colleague, he does NOT need to register the boss again. Your boss is automatically added in your colleague's list of registered bosses.

OfficeGupshup.com ensures that only the colleagues you invite would be able to appraise your boss and no other OGS user.

So, what are you waiting for? Click Here and start appraising your boss.

     Pass Verdicts

The Beauty of OfficeGupshup.com is that we let the readers decide how bad/good their boss actually is. The readers have the voting power in their hands and based on their appraisal of the boss, they pass verdicts on the bosses. There are three main verdicts:

    1. Electrocute the Jerk --> This verdict decreases the overall score of your boss by "-5" points. If people pass this verdict on your boss then that means they completely agree with you that your boss is a jerk and that he deserves the worst punishment.

    2. Deserves GPL / Kick on A$$ --> This verdict decreases the overall score of your boss by "-4" points. This rating signifies that your boss is a mean ass and hence your boss earns himself/herself a kick at the right place ;).

    3. Not Guilty / Cool Boss --> This verdict increases the overall score of your boss by "+2" points. This rating signifies that the readers feel that your boss is not guilty of any offense and is in fact a cool dude/dudette who deserves appreciation. If as the author you are frustrated with this kind of a boss then you should instead take a deep breath and calmly think about how you can have a better relationship with your boss.
